Edit: August 19th 2024--

As an artist, sometimes we must make choices between who we are and who we need to become. These choices can be very easy or they can fraught with conflict. I am sadly on the precipice of such a choice.

I appreciate the experiences that serving as a stage manager has availed me. As an actor, I loved the perspective that I've gained from living through the different sets that I've stage managed. It was a refreshing point of view. I enjoyed learning at the feet of different directors from the United States to Belgium, which is quite a privilege.

It has become very necessary that I make some conscientious decisions regarding my professional life, in order to remain on track with what I have set forth to accomplish. Consequently, I am "sunsetting" this skillset. This is not because this was not a fulfilling portion of performance, but because originally I did not set out to remain only a stage manager. I acquired the skill through university as a means to diversify and remain connected to our profession in the event that I either needed respite from performance as an actor, etc. and also to ensure that I could create a stream of income from a source that I was passionate about, so much so that often it just felt like second nature to me. I've held similar positions to stage management in the past, each having it's upsides and downsides, but all leaving me with exceptional amounts of knowledge and skills that I have collected along the way.  This has enabled me, along with the other skills that I have been exploring and growing into, to continue to prepare my production company and solidify myself as a writer and director.

As a noble career, it satisfied my desire to serve and to observe the performers, staff and crew. I am...thankful.

I hope that I have led well by example, enthusiasm and inspired people to pursue their talents --to follow all of  their gifts, as this can be where you may be most beneficial and you may feel the most fulfilled.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted my judgment and capabilities, especially any technical staff, actors and directors. You have made this experience worthwhile.

I will see you all on the other side...

    Beyond The Stage...

When I am not personally in front of an audience, one of my favorite things to do, is to enjoy performance from the aspect of the stage manager! Having the unique perspective of the performer allows me to understand what the performer needs, whilst being able to assist the director and other technical personnel in ensuring that a beautiful show is rendered. It's fun, exciting and a welcomed shift when I desire to remain in the realm of performance, without myself being the performer.

Is it even theatre without a cliffhanger before intermission?
